The Position:
PMC are looking to recruit a highly motivated and reliable Financial Accountant to join our small Finance team based at our Biggleswade head office.
The ideal candidate will possess a suitable accounting qualification (e.g., AAT / ACCA) and will report to the CEO. They will also work alongside the management accountant and the role will have direct responsibility for an Accounts Administrator.
The purpose of the role is to ensure and be responsible for the integrity of the transactions in the company’s general ledger, carrying out reconciliations and therefore the accuracy of the Balance Sheet and P&L.
The role will have responsibility for the Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger functions and will ensure accurate coding and keying of invoices and bank transactions.
The successful candidate will have at least four years’ experience in financial accounts and have a good attention to detail and a friendly nature conducive to the creation of good relationships across the company and with customers.
Excellent excel skills are necessary for this role and experience using Sage Line 50 is required.
Reporting to the CEO tasks include but are not limited to the following key duties and responsibilities:
- The posting of bank transactions posting and bank and cash reconciliations.
- Management of the Purchase Ledger and preparation of weekly payment runs.
- Assisting Accounts Administrator with supplier reconciliations.
- Management of the Sales Ledgers (UK and Overseas).
- Credit control and producing customer statements and pro forma invoices
- Closely liaising with subsidiary company regarding inter co transactions.
- Attending meetings with Sales team to input regarding credit control matters.
- Daily management of cashflow with monthly and longer term cashflow forecasting
- VAT Returns, Weeecare returns, Office for National Statistics returns
- Month end journals incl. accruals, prepayments, salary expenses & credit card expenses
- Payment of employee expenses
- Fixed assets register and control
- Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Invoice coding and cost allocation
- Stock adjustments incl. Loan Stock issuing and maintenance
- Occasional cover of payroll in absence of Management Accountant
- Management of Accounts Administrator including approval of holidays/expenses and appraisals
- Year End GL/PL/SL reconciliations preparation
Desirable attributes:
- Use of accounting software packages
- Excellent excel Skills
- AAT or ACCA Qualified
- 4 years’+ experience in financial accounts
- Great attention to detail
- Use of own vehicle travel between our UK sites may be required)

Monday - Thursday: 8.30am-5.30pm Friday: 8.30am - 3pm
