Craig Sowerby

PMC, British loudspeaker manufacturer, is increasing its focus on the custom installation sector by re-organising its sales division and appointing Craig Sowerby to the role of CI account manager UK, to service the specialist custom installation channels.

Craig has been the company’s northern UK sales manager for hi-fi products for the past two years and will be adding this new position to his existing role. Having previously worked for a well-known CI distributor he is very familiar with the market, the companies operating within it and the key personnel.

PMC has built up a broad portfolio of loudspeakers during the past twenty years, from professional studio monitors to hi-fi and home cinema speakers. In 2006 it launched the wafer™ series of on-wall and in-wall speakers for use in commercial and domestic installation situations. The products have been specified for many installs, ranging from use as rear speakers in a domestic 5.1 surround system to use in the BBC’s Cardiff post-production facility for the surround mixes on popular shows such as Dr Who. The versatility of the wafer products is as a result of the company’s philosophy on speaker design, which states that a properly designed loudspeaker should be suitable for all applications and not solely for hi-fi or studio or installation. Testament to this is the recent five star review of its wafer2 and the choice of 11 wafer on-wall speakers for a major magazine’s home theatre demonstration at the recent Sound & Vision Show in Bristol.

After successfully launching its ‘Specialist Systems Group’ operation two years ago to service high end home theatre and professional installations, PMC has seen the demand for wafer and associated products grow significantly. Sowerby’s appointment to this new position will further increase the groups capability for specifying systems and offering training and consultation for system integrators.

Commenting on the new appointment, Miles Roberts, managing director, said, “Without having put any dedicated focus on the sector in the past we have seen our sales of wafer installation speakers perform well and receive very good feedback from users and installers. It is appropriate therefore that we provide more focus on this area of business as there are real opportunities in the market for us to expand our custom installation operations.” He went on to say, “Craig has a wealth of experience from his time in CI distribution and we are very pleased that he is part of our team and is able to use this knowledge to help us grow the profile of our CI and ‘Specialist Systems Group’ profile.”

Craig Sowerby commented, “I have worked with PMC for a couple of years now and have been impressed with the way in which models from the range can be put together as a result of having been designed right in the first place. This makes the job of the installer so much easier as they can mix and match different models from the range to suit their clients’ requirements for stereo, home cinema or distributed audio without compromising sound quality.” He added, “I am very much looking forward to working with the custom installation industry in the UK to introduce them to the PMC wafer series and our other models to provide a real high quality loudspeaker solution for their customers.”
