Amy Winehouse

The late soul singer Amy Winehouse’s album ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ currently topping the UK album charts, is another hit produced using PMC.

The record, which features 12 original tracks and covers, was compiled by long-time musical partners Salaam Remi and Mark Ronson and includes the classic ‘Our Day Will Come’ originally recorded by Ruby & the Romantics in 1962. It was both mixed and mastered using PMC BB5 XBD-Active at Metropolis Studios, London. Mastering engineer Stuart Hawkes who ensured the balance and vibe of the album was honed to perfection was quoted, “My PMCs sound fantastic”

Proceeds from the album will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation

What is mastering?

Mastering is the final stage of the creative process before the vinyl is cut or the CD is pressed. It is the last chance for any artistic input and the last chance to make it sound as good as it could possibly be. Most artists attend this process and work closely with the engineer to ensure the all important ‘vibe’ isn’t lost or changed.
At this stage the sound can also be enhanced, or rectified if there were any faults in the recording process. To do this task accurately requires a loudspeaker with total transparency which instills the engineer and artist with the belief that the loudspeaker is telling them exactly what is there, with no deviation.

PMC are the world leaders in producing loudspeakers for mastering
